Bargaining Update

October 20th did not bring us any closer to a tentative agreement. The next bargaining date with the mediator is scheduled for November 13th. Stay on top of all the PASS news by subscribing to the PASS website using your personal email address.

It looks like all of our buildings presently have reps. This is very important because detailed information will be passed through these individuals.

Remember to wear black on Fridays to show support. Also remember to plan on attending the school board meeting on October 26th

Why recruit candidates?

Community organizing is about building enough power to win a tangible improvements in people’s lives and bring about a more just and sustainable society. There are three important components in bringing about change: good public policy, community organizing, and grassroots electoral campaigns.

look for mor information that will be posted about recruiting education friendly legislators. We need to step up to the plate as we said during our membership meetings. We need to secure our future not let it pass us by with our inactivity.

Request from PASS Leadership

If you have subscribed to the PASS website Leadership is requesting that if you are receiving emails on you school district email that you unsubscribe and subscribe again using a personal email account. PASS is working to create a more secure web site that will have a members only section which you will have a password in order to access. PASS cannot distribute any bargaining information through the website because of those individuals who chose to use their school district email.

if you do not have a personal email address you can create a gmail account very easily and at no cost.

Watch for more information regarding changes to our website. This will be a large undertaking and will take time to build from the bottom up.

Right to Union Representation

You are legally entitled to union representation during any employer interview that you reasonably fear may result in discipline. You must request such representation however many times Administration will suggest that you contact the Union for representation.

If you failed to request a union representative at the start of the interview you may do so at any time during the interview.

If you are being interviewed by a supervisor and you reasonably believe that what you say may lead to discipline, prior to the start of the interview, you should state something similar to the following to invoke your Weingarten Right: ” If this discussion could lead in any way to my being disaplined or terminated or affect my working conditions, I respectfully request that a union representative be present at the meeting.”

IMRF Not Impacted

Illinois Budget Stalemate Will Not Affect IMRF Pension Payments

Illinois Comptroller Leslie Geissler Munger announced that due to the budget stalemate Illinois would not make its November pension payment to the state-funded retirement systems. This missed payment has no impact on IMRF or its ability to pay pensions. IMRF receives no funding from the state of Illinois.
