A Better Illinois “fair Tax”

The fight for a Fair Tax will continue into the next legislative session and for as long as it takes to pass an amendment that will ensure that public schools and public services are adequately funded and able to serve the people of our state.

Because the state senate adjourned without voting today, time has run out for the Fair Tax resolution to move through the senate in time to meet the legislature’s deadline for this session.

This means that our focus will now shift to making sure the state income tax remains intact and does not expire as scheduled at the end of the year.

This is not the end by any means. The graduated income tax (Fair Tax) remains a top priority for IEA. The hard work done by so many leaders and staff has raised awareness and support. We will fight on in the next session for the Fair Tax.

You will be hearing a lot more about the need to make permanent the Illinois income tax . Your help will be required to achieve this very necessary goal..

Thank you for all you have done, and all you will do, for our state, our schools and our students.
