At the July 17th Board of Education meeting, Mina Griffith, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, presented a proposal to the Board to increase the nurses’ salaries in response to staffing issues over the past four years. In that time 15 nurses and 9 permanent sub nurses have left the district. From exit surveys, a majority of those who left reported that it was due to pay being much less than surrounding districts. PASS only became aware of this proposal after the BOE meeting via email to our president.
After several discussions, on August 1st, PASS entered into a memorandum of understanding that defines the increase in salary for the nurses. This is pending final approval of the Board of Education at the August 21st meeting.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

THE PLAINFIELD ASSOCIATION OF SUPPORT STAFF, IEA-NEA
The Board of Education (the “Board”) of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 (the “School District”) and the Plainfield Association of Support Staff, IEA-NEA, (“PASS”) agree to the modification in Article 5 and 6 of the 2016-2019 Collective Bargaining Agreement (“Agreement”) as follows:
5.2 – REDUCTION IN FORCE

6.2 – SALARY
For the 2017-18 school year, current registered nurses without a BSN degree in Category E will receive a 7% increase in addition to the 2.25% that they will receive with current increase. Additionally, current registered nurses who hold a BSN degree will receive a 14% increase in addition to the 2.25% that they will receive with the current increase.
For the 2018-2019 school year, all registered nurses will receive the annual salary increases as agreed upon in the Agreement.
All registered nurses who obtain and continue to maintain the IDPH hearing and vision certification will receive an additional $250 per year that they conduct screenings for the School District for the duration of the Agreement.

This modification will be reflected with the Agreement.
Except for the modifications noted above, all other terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board of Education and the Plainfield Association of Support Staff PASS (effective 2016-2019) shall remain in full force and effect pursuant to the terms of such Agreement.
