We have officially thawed out from the deep freeze and we are over a week into our walking challenge. Here are our frontrunners:
- River View
It’s early and there is still plenty of time to “step up” to the challenge. Below are ways to get more steps in each day:
- Plan a walk with co-workers at the beginning or the end of the day
- Park further away from the building (maybe not today with the rain)
- Take the stairs whenever possible instead of the elevator or escalator
The Route 66 challenge is walking through America’s past, as many of the towns spotted throughout the Route remain largely untouched since Route 66’s heyday. Believe it or not, we can use the past to help us continue to exercise and complete our epic trek across most of the United States. Some research studies suggest that recalling a positive exercise memory will not only motivate you to exercise, but the memory alone can encourage an increase in exercise over the course of the upcoming week!
Try using memories of positive events or positive future outcomes to help you complete this trek. Let’s also help motivate our co-workers to get up and get moving.
Here is a sampling of the prizes to be won:
All employees who walk at least 90% of the step goal, will be entered into a raffle for 50 prize bags:
The three top buildings will win a free breakfast served by the wellness team! We will also raffle three prizes: a customized Yeti water bottle, a Bluetooth speaker or powerbeats wireless earbuds at each of the three top buildings.
